Vancouver Police still looking for missing men: Joseph Lingappa, 75, and Liang Jin, 21

LINGAPPA-Joseph1VANCOUVER Police are continuing their search for two missing Vancouver men in two separate cases.

 

Seventy-five-year-old Joseph Lingappa left his home near Granville Street and West 70th Avenue on Monday, December 29, around 4 p.m.

Joseph is 5’10” tall, with a slim build, dark hair and a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a green bomber-style jacket with a fur hood and orange lining, and black Nike runners.

Police believe that Lingappa may have been seen in the North Surrey area on January 1.

Police are continuing their search for a missing Vancouver man who police believe may have gone hiking on the North Shore.

Twenty-one-year-old Liang Jin, who also goes by the name of “Leon,” contacted his family on the morning of December 31. He sent his father a text message saying that he was going hiking, but gave no indication where. He has not been heard from or seen since.

Liang JinLeon Jin is East Asian, 5’6″ tall, with a slim build. Police believe he may be wearing a black baseball cap, all black clothing and a black Salomon brand backpack with white stripes on the straps.

Police believe that Leon may have taken a bus from the West End of Vancouver around 8:30 a.m. on December 31 to the North Shore Mountains, specifically the areas of Lynn Valley and Hanes Valley.

Investigators continue to work with a number of local agencies to search for Jin, including the North Shore Search and Rescue.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lingappa or Jin is asked to call 9-1-1.
