THE Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) said in a press release that in the early hours of Monday, February 12, shots were fired at a Brampton house under construction that belongs to Inderjeet Singh Gosal, a close associate of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, SFJ general counsel.

The SFJ said that Gosal oversees the construction on a daily basis.

It noted that “the shooting comes days after Gosal announced the Khalistan Freedom Rally at the Indian Consulate [in] Toronto on 17th February to commemorate the 8th month of [Khalistan advocate Hardeep Singh] Nijjar’s assassination and to support the Trudeau Government in the ongoing standoff with India on this issue.”

Nijjar was assassinated on June 18, 2023, outside Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara where he was president, in a well-planned brazen ambush.

The SFJ claimed that within hours of the shooting in Brampton, a verified Indian account at X stated: “This was not a miss but a message to Pannun handlers.”

The SFJ said that “Gosal has been closely working with Pannun and the SFJ on the Khalistan Referendum and was instrumental in organizing the Khalistan Referendum voting in Surrey in September 2023 after the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was chief coordinator of Referendum in Canada.”

Pannun and Gosal accused the Indian government of resorting to violence to try and stop the Khalistan Referendum. Gosal said that “no amount of threats and violence” could stop him from campaigning.

Monday’s shooting incident comes just days after Surrey RCMP arrested two youths in the ongoing investigation of shots fired on February 1 at the South Surrey residence of Simranjeet Singh, who was closely associated with Nijjar. A car was riddled with bullets as was the house. A bullet missed Singh’s sleeping child by two feet.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit executed a search warrant on February 6 on a residence and seized three firearms and multiple electronic devices. Two 16-year-old males from Surrey were arrested for careless use of a firearm and discharge a firearm with intent. The youths were released without charges pending further investigation.
