Coquitlam RCMP say at least 2 suspects involved in Sunday’s shooting; seek video of suspect vehicle

COQUITLAM RCMP are seeking witnesses and video to identify the suspects involved in the parking lot shooting that occurred on Sunday.

Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to a shooting at 11:56 p.m. on February 11 in a parking lot near Barnet Highway and Pinetree Way in Coquitlam. Police located a male and a female in their late 20s suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle.

Both victims remain in hospital for their injuries.

Investigators believe that at least two suspects were involved in the shooting.

Following the shooting, a silver Chrysler 200 was located in the area of 180 Street and Golden Ears Way in Surrey on fire on Monday, February 12 at 12:16 a.m. Police believe that this vehicle fire is linked to the shooting in Coquitlam.

“Police are asking anyone who may have observed a silver Chrysler 200 in the parking lot area of Barnet Highway and Pinetree Way in Coquitlam between 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 11 and 12:30 a.m. on Monday, February 12 to contact the Coquitlam RCMP,” said Inspector Darren Carr, Acting Officer in Charge of Coquitlam RCMP.

“We are also asking anyone who may have dashcam or cellphone video from this area to contact our investigators and quote file number 2024-3605.

“We understand and share the community concerns regarding the recent shootings within the Coquitlam Centre area. We are exploring every investigational avenue while working with assisting agencies as crime is borderless and can be interconnected in multiple jurisdictions.”
