ON July 29, Coquitlam RCMP conducted a Commercial Vehicle Safety check in collaboration with officers from Integrated Road Safety Unit, Vancouver Police Department, Port Moody Police, New Westminster Police, Coquitlam Bylaws, Township of Langley Bylaws and WorkSafeBC. 

A total of 20 commercial vehicles were inspected with 12 of them being put out of service due to serious safety issues. A total of 47 vehicle defects were noted and 17 tickets issued.

Police note that collaborative enforcement initiatives between police and bylaw agencies strengthen operational effectiveness and consistency. Such partnerships are especially valuable in commercial vehicle enforcement, given that transport operators routinely travel between municipalities across the Lower Mainland.

Coquitlam RCMP strives to educate all drivers on how to keep our roadways safe and by doing this with our partner agencies we are able to promote safe driving practices, increase awareness of vehicle safety requirements, and improve compliance throughout the Lower Mainland,” says Constable Jennifer Barker, Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services.
