SURREY First mayoralty candidate Tom Gill says the integrity of our voting system is key and he fully supports the measures being taken on Monday by the City of Surrey to ensure every vote counts, and every vote is authentic.
City of Surrey Chief Election Officer Anthony Capuccinello Iraci stated at a news conference on Monday that “no ballots have been sent out by mail, therefore the mail ballot voting process has not been compromised”.
“Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy,” said Gill. “This is an important election for our community because we have so many significant issues in front of us, everything from public safety to housing affordability, transit and community infrastructure. The action being taken by our city’s chief election officer gives me confidence that we’re going to have a fair election and that we can have confidence in the result on October 20.
“I want to congratulate our city’s election team for their early due diligence and the efforts they are making to ensure the integrity of our election process.”
