White Rock RCMP arrest Vancouver man for driving and firearms offences

ON June 3 at 5:20 p.m., White Rock RCMP frontline officers received a call of an unconscious person in a parked vehicle located in a public parkade in the 1500-block of Findlay Street.

Officers located an unresponsive man in a running vehicle. While the officers were trying to rouse the man, he suddenly woke up and attempted to drive away. In his efforts to drive away, he narrowly missed police officers and then drove into another parked vehicle, where he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief foot chase officers arrested him.

Officers located illicit drugs, a loaded firearm and ammunition. The drugs and firearm were seized for analysis, police said.

Johnathan Corey Cooper, 36, of Vancouver has been charged with 10 offences in relation to this incident, including driving and firearms offences. Cooper remains in custody until his next court appearance.
