ON November 29 at 9:39 a.m., Delta Police responded to a report of a car having been driven intentionally into the foreshore of the Fraser River in the 8200-block of River Road. “The vehicle was off-road and stuck in the foreshore of the river and not in the water,” police said. Prior to police arrival, Delta Fire Department firefighters and good Samaritans came to the aid of the female driver and two young children.

Delta Police announced on Wednesday that two charges of attempted murder have been sworn against the driver of the car. The driver has been arrested and remains in custody awaiting her first court appearance.

A publication ban is in place to protect the children’s identity. The Delta Police Department will not be sharing the driver’s identity information or any other details.

The DPD expressed gratitude to members of the public and the Delta Fire Department who intervened and provided assistance to the involved parties.
