Woman in critical condition after shots fired at Surrey residence (update)

TUESDAY UPDATE:

Police have told the media that the victim’s condition is serious, but stable. They believe that the people living in the house were not the intended targets and are investigating whether the owner of the house was the target.

SURREY Police Service (SPS) is investigating an overnight shooting at a residence that has sent one person to hospital with critical injuries.

At approximately 2:42 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, SPS frontline officers responded to calls of possible shots fired at a residence in the 13000-block of 103A Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, BCEHS paramedics were administering life-saving medical intervention to an adult female who was inside the residence at the time and had suffered a gunshot wound. She was transported to hospital where she remains in critical condition.

SPS’s Major Crime Section has taken over the investigation and, at this early stage, are examining whether this is linked to extortions. SPS will be working closely with its partner agencies to determine if there is a nexus to other ongoing investigations.

Anyone with information about this incident, or anyone who may have been in the area of 13000 block of 103A Avenue between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. and witnessed the shots fired or suspicious activity, or has CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-89656 (SP) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
