Woman stabbed in Surrey’s Newton

SURREY RCMP are seeking assistance from the public following a stabbing on Tuesday in the Newton area.

On January 16 at 7:52 p.m., police received a report of a woman who had been stabbed by an unknown male in the 12100-block of 84 Avenue.

Police attended the area with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services, but were unable to locate the suspect. The woman suffered a non-life-threatening injury. She was taken to hospital for treatment and was later released.

The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit (GIU) has conduct of this investigation, and is currently gathering evidence and working on identifying the male suspect. The male suspect is described as having a thin build, and wearing a white puffy jacket.

Investigators will be actively conducting follow-up in the area so residents can expect to see police canvassing for witnesses and CCTV. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information including dash-cam footage from the area is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-7649.
