ON Sunday, March 16, shortly before 5 p.m., Richmond RCMP received multiple calls from a mall in the 6500-block of No 3 Road about a noxious substance in the food court. Richmond RCMP frontline officers located a youth who advised that two men had approached him and attempted to steal his sunglasses.
When the victim attempted to resist, he was sprayed with the noxious substance and his sunglasses were taken. The suspects then left the area on foot.
Through video surveillance, the suspects were observed exiting the Brighouse Skytrain Station at 4:06 p.m. They were then observed loitering in the mall until 4:40 p.m. when they followed the victim up an escalator and committed the alleged robbery.
The suspects are described as black men, believed to be in their late teens, dressed all in black and wearing black medical masks. One suspect had dreadlocks and the second was described as wearing a toque and vest.
Richmond Fire Rescue provided medical assistance to the victim at scene.
