THE Vancouver Canucks milestone 10th annual Diwali Night took place Tuesday night at Rogers Arena.
The energy in the building was incredible as the Canucks hosted the Anaheim Ducks in a thrilling 5-4 game. Over the past decade, this event has grown from a single theme night into a major cultural tradition in British Columbia, spotlighting South Asian arts, music, food, and community achievements right at the heart of Vancouver’s hockey culture.
To mark the 10th anniversary, the evening featured a special ceremonial puck drop with Vancouver Mayor Pete Fry and Vancouver Police Department Chief Constable Steve Rai. Additionally, this year’s limited-edition Canucks Diwali logo was custom-designed by local South Asian graphic artist Arpan Panglia.
• Vibrant Live Performances: Fans enjoyed dynamic sets throughout the night from Surrey-based Punjabi recording artist Raman Bains, traditional Punjabi bhangra ensemble Vancity Bhangra, Club Mumbai DJs, and the Nach Nation dance crew.
• The Diwali Market: The concourse came alive with a bustling market showcasing local, South Asian-owned businesses, including DUDH SODA, The Indian Pantry, Nirvana Indian Cuisine, and an interactive keepsake experience by Lavish Photo Booth.
• Community Impact: Reflecting the spirit of the Festival of Lights, the Canucks for Kids Fund presented a $20,000 donation to Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen, bringing total team contributions to the volunteer organization to over $110,000.
• Special Guests: Notable community leaders and personalities in attendance included music producer Intense, Abbotsford Canucks Assistant Coach Harry Mahesh, the Bollywood Boyz, media personality Tarannum Thind, Balkaran Singh from Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen and many more.
The Canucks Diwali Celebration continues to be a meaningful tradition that brings together fans, families, creatives, and community leaders—making vital space for representation in professional sports and entertainment.
