A naked man broke into a home last night near Cambie and West 41 Avenue in Vancouver by smashing a window with a pointed metal rod. The 72-year-old resident ran out of bed, grabbed a shovel and chased the combative man from her house as he swung the rod at her, Vancouver Police tweeted.

Neighbours called 911 and police arrived to find the resident had cornered the suspect in his vehicle as she waited for them.

Vancouver police said the man — Balraj Singh Rahal — has been charged with break-and-enter, and assault with a weapon.

The man is in custody.
