Richmond’s No. 4 Road re-opened to traffic after unexploded ordnance safely removed

ON Friday, May 9, at approximately 9 :30 a.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a report that an old unexploded ordnance had been turned in to an armoury located in the 5500-block of No 4 Road.  Out of an abundance of caution, road closures surrounding the armoury were put into effect until the stability of the ordnance could be assessed.

An ammunition technician from the Canadian Armed Forces attended and safely removed the unexploded ordnance. At approximately 11:30 a.m., all roads were reopened.

“If you come across what appears to be unexploded ordnance or an unknown military artifact, do not touch or move it,” says Cpl. Melissa Lui, Media Relations Officer of Richmond RCMP. “Leave the item where it is and contact your local police for assistance.”
