PETER Milobar’s group of MLAs and CentreBC Leader Mike Bernier on Friday announced a merger. Milobar took over from Bernier as the leader of CentreBC.
CentreBC MLAs will include Ian Paton of Delta South, Bruce Banman of Abbotsford South, Donegal Wilson of Boundary-Similkameen, Teresa Wat of Richmond-Bridgeport, Áʼa꞉líya Warbus of Chilliwack-Cultus Lake, Rosalyn Bird of Prince George-Valemount, Elenore Sturko of Surrey-Cloverdale and Milobar of Kamloops Centre.
“British Columbians deserve an alternative to David Eby’s NDP government while we are staring down the possibility of an unnecessary and costly snap election as early as this weekend,” Milobar said.
Premier Eby has stated that Elections BC should be prepared for a general election. “It is a slap in the face to all of the dedicated volunteers and candidates who have worked tirelessly on municipal campaigns in our province. If the Premier goes forward with this election, it will be against the wishes of the people of British Columbia,” Milobar added.
He said: “Today is an exciting day for British Columbia, as we present a legitimate option to the 51% of British Columbians who feel ‘politically homeless.’ We expect more MLAs to join us in our fight against the NDP, and regardless of when the election is called, CentreBC will be prepared for the next general election.”
