Abbotsford Police Constable Rob Thandi charged with fraud and obstructing justice

Rob Thandi

ON April 22, information was provided to the Abbotsford Police Department that suggested an employee had improperly used extended health benefits. The APD initiated both criminal and Police Act investigations into the allegation and the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner was notified on April 25.

On May 23, the employee was suspended with pay.

On June 13, Constable Rob Thandi, who is a 20-year member of the APD, was charged with fraud and obstructing justice. The allegations are that he used his extended health benefits fraudulently and attempted to interfere with the investigation into this matter.

The Police Act investigation is continuing.

The Abbotsford Police Board will be asked to review the suspension of Thandi to determine whether pay will continue or be discontinued.

  1. Really? This makes news? To drag a 20 year veteran that’s put up with all the crap on the streets and still comes to work daily and his name is dragged into the news? That’s pathetic. Give the guy a freaking break already.

  2. Lance, what’s wrong with you? Your comment is supporting a man, cop or not, who [allegedly] frauded the system and then [allegedly] tried to interfere with the investigation. Good job ABBY PD!
