A five-year-old South Asian girl, who was critically injured on Tuesday when she was struck by a vehicle in Abbotsford, passed away in hospital on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, just before 6 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department was called to a collision in a laneway near the 31500 block of Blueridge Drive where they found that a five-year-old girl had been struck by a westbound Toyota Corolla. The 42-year-old female driver of the Corolla and her passenger remained on scene.
Abbotsford Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance personnel provided medical treatment for the girl and an air ambulance was called to the scene.
Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Division officers and collision reconstructionists are continuing the investigation. No charges have been laid.

The Abbotsford Police Department extends condolences to the family and friends of the young girl.
