ON Sunday, April 7 at 3:44 p.m., Surrey RCMP received reports of an erratic driver operating a red 2016 Chevy Cruze proceeding eastbound along 100 Avenue from 148 Street. Citizens reported the vehicle traveling at high speeds, swerving all over the road and running multiple red lights.
Abbotsford Police said that reports continued to come into the Surrey RCMP advising that the vehicle was proceeding north along 160 Street towards Highway 1. Upon reaching the Highway, the suspect vehicle was observed proceeding eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 1. Police attended the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
At 5:19 p.m., Abbotsford Police received 911 calls reporting the same suspect vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes within the 33500-block of Marshall Road in Abbotsford. Members of Abbotsford Police’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) immediately attended to the area, located the vehicle and were able to detain the driver.
Abbotsford Police are appealing to the public who were traveling in the Surrey area, along Highway 1, or in the 33500-block of Marshall Road on April 7 to come forward and speak to the police if you witnessed this vehicle driving dangerously or have dash camera footage of this incident.
