ANOTHER FEATHER IN THE CAP OF UNITED BROTHERS

The seed which United Brother Field Hockey Club (UBR) started sowing in 2004. It took hard work of nine years to pay back the community with sweet fruits. The writer of these lines started the junior field hockey programme, with advertising in all media outlets, but with no response. As the saying goes on the show must go on, I remember , our first training was in cold, windy and rainy November evening and just six kids showed up and today now those first dedicated kids still going strong , and just this weekend only from those very first kids , our Sukhpal Panesar made it to the Senior Team Canada to participate in Pan am cup, to be held at Brampton ( ON) from Aug. August 11-17, 2013. The Pan Am champ will get ticket to participate The 2014 Men’s 13th Hockey World Cup which will be held from 31 May to 15 June 2014 at the Kyocera Stadion in The Hague, Netherlands.

He already, quite a number of times participated in under 21 Junior Team Canada. Suk pal’s family migrated from village Chacharali, Tehsil Jagraon, of district Ludhiana. On asking Suk pal’s father about this extraordinary achievement of his son, S. Balbir Singh, who himself is an excellent ex hockey player said humbly, “It’s the hard work of kids and the coaches, which brings this life time movement in our life.“ The president of UBR S. Nirmal Singh Sohal summed up the achievement of Sukhpal as,“ The future of our community really seems bright as there is no dearth of talent and soon we`ll see many more faces like Sukhpal in the international arena of Field hockey.“
