IN preparation for a potential fall snap election, the BC Liberals said that their members in Vancouver-Point Grey have elected local business professional and community advocate Mark Bowen as their candidate in the upcoming election.
As a long-time magazine publishing professional and community volunteer, Bowen has dedicated his time to making his community in Vancouver-Point Grey the best place to live. He is an advocate for small businesses in Vancouver and he believes that they are the economic driver of our communities.
He has also volunteered with many non-profit organizations, including Self-Management BC, an organization that provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to successfully manage their chronic health conditions. As a cancer survivor, Mark understands the need to overcome obstacles and setbacks and move forward with vision, strength, perseverance, and passion.
“I’m so thankful to the BC Liberal members of Vancouver-Point Grey for entrusting me to represent you and the party in the next election — which we know can happen at any time,” said Bowen. “I want to thank Alex [Read] for being a fantastic candidate in this race, and I look forward to working together with our strong BC Liberal team to win this riding back from David Eby.”
“Vancouver-Point Grey will be well represented in the next election with the selection of Mark as our candidate,” said BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson. “With an exceptional commitment to community service and understanding that businesses are key drivers of our economic recovery and growth, I welcome Mark to the BC Liberal team as we prepare for any election that can be called by the NDP at any time. We’re ready to provide British Columbians with our plan for real economic recovery for all of BC.”
Vancouver-Point Grey is currently held by the NDP’s Attorney General David Eby. Prior to that, both Premier Christy Clark and Premier Gordon Campbell held the seat from 1996-2013.
“For the past three years, David Eby and the NDP have introduced so many taxes and policies that have made life less affordable for everyday British Columbians,” added Bowen. “Now, more than ever, we need a clear economic recovery plan to jumpstart our economy and bring prosperity back to BC. I am proud and honoured to work alongside Andrew Wilkinson and the BC Liberal team in the upcoming election.”
Bowen is the ninth candidate to be nominated by the BC Liberals for the upcoming election. As the party prepares for a potential snap election, more nomination contests will be held in the coming weeks and months.
