THE 71st Republic Day of India was celebrated on January 26 at the Consulate General of India in Vancouver with members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India, including ex-servicemen of India.

Consul General Abhilasha Joshi unfurled the Indian flag and addressed the gathering. The day commemorates the coming into force of the Indian Constitution, the longest written constitution in the world which guarantees fundamental rights as well as outlines fundamental duties for citizens of India.
