Chancal Badwal charged in homicide of Imtiaz Hussain in Abbotsford

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced on Wednesday that 46-year-old Chancal Badwal of Abbotsford has been charged in relation to the homicide of 62-year-old Imtiaz Hussain of Abbotsford.

On July 18 at 7:06 a.m., the Abbotsford Police were notified of a suspicious death in the 31000-block of Madiera Place. Officers discovered a man, later identified as Hussain, deceased. As a result of evidence obtained by the investigators, a 46-year-old man, later identified as Badwal, was arrested and taken into custody.

IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continues to work closely in partnership with Abbotsford Police and the BC Coroners Service.

On July 19, Badwal was charged in relation to Hussain’s homicide.

“This was an isolated incident between two men known to each other,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti. “We are asking anyone with recent contact with Mr. Hussain or Mr. Badwal to contact police immediately.”
