Charges laid in Coquitlam Little League fraud investigation

COQUITLAM RCMP announced on Friday that a 65-year-old female has been charged in a fraud investigation resulting in over $150,000 lost in funds.

In August 2020, Coquitlam RCMP received a fraud report from the Coquitlam Little League after it was discovered that over $150,000 was missing from their bank account.

Investigators identified Terri Michael of Coquitlam as the suspect who had worked as the league’s treasurer from September 2014 to August 2020.

“Our investigators worked diligently throughout this two-and-a-half-year investigation to gather evidence, identify and interview witnesses and support charges,” said Sgt. Karrie Ellis from Coquitlam RCMP’s GIS.

On Wednesday, May 10, Terri Michael was charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and one count of theft over $5,000.

She was released pending her next court appearance.
