Charges recommended in alleged restaurant break and enter in New Westminster (update)

ON January 24, the New Westminster Police Department received a report of a break and enter at a local restaurant. A man had allegedly broken into the restaurant in the early morning hours and stolen the cash drawer of the register which contained hundreds of dollars.

Evidence gathered at the scene in addition to other investigative techniques led officers to a suspect who resided in New Westminster. The suspect was arrested and a report to Crown Counsel has been submitted recommending a charge of break and enter a place and commits an indictable offence.

“There was excellent work done by both frontline officers and detectives in this investigation,” said Sgt. Sanjay Kumar. “We value our relationships with local businesses and are here to follow up on all crimes reported to us and work with businesses on crime prevention strategies.”
