SURREY Police Service (SPS) announced on Sunday that the child pedestrian who was struck by a large cube van-style vehicle on December 5 has now sadly passed away.
On Friday, at approximately 2:35 p.m., SPS received reports of a pedestrian, a 9-year-old child, who was struck by a vehicle in the 13400-block of 81 Avenue. SPS members attended the scene along with Surrey Fire Service and BCEHS. The child suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries where life-saving measures continued.
SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation, and the cause of the collision is still under investigation. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators.
