RICHMOND RCMP officers responded to a report of male in water in the area of the 7000-block of Dyke Road on Saturday (March 10) shortly before 8 a.m.
The victim, a male in his early seventies, received first aid at the scene and was transported to local hospital by the BC Ambulance Service. The victim was later pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding his death are deemed suspicious and the Richmond RCMP are investigating along with assistance from the BC Coroner’s Service.
The victim is a Richmond resident and is not known to police.
“The Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) is taking the lead in this investigation. Investigators will be continuing their examination of area around the 7000-block of River Road for any clues surrounding this incident,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang on Sunday.
“We are asking for the public’s assistance for any information regarding this incident. If someone drove, cycled, or walked in this area and noticed anything around the morning of March 10, please contact our Serious Crimes Unit,” said Hwang.
