Collision involving two tractor trailers in Surrey

SURREY RCMP are advising the public of road closures following a serious collision on Highway 17 at 136 Street.

On Tuesday, July 16 at approximately 8:10 p.m., police received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving two tractor trailers at the intersection of 136 Street and  Highway 17.  Both drivers were transported to a local area hospital.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) is currently en route to the site of the collision and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called out.  The investigation is in the early stages and investigators are working to identify all factors that led to this collision.

Currently, Highway 17 is closed both eastbound and westbound between Bridgeview and 104 Avenue. Traffic in the surrounding areas has been impacted and drivers can expect significant delays. The closure will remain in effect for an undetermined amount of time while investigators process the scene.
