CONSERVATIVE Party Leader Pierre Poilievre on Monday released the following statement on Hola Mohalla: “Starting today, in the streets of Punjab and around the world, Sikhs will usher in the Spring season with the colourful festival of Hola Mohalla. For the next three days, they will put the gifts of their heritage on full display, faithfully following in the steps of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the time-honoured practices he established.
“As they take in the skillful displays of Gatka, carefully perfected by their ancestors over hundreds of years, Sikhs will take pride in their long tradition of courage in hard times and find comfort in the promise that good will always prevail over evil.
“For Sikhs here in Canada, this spirit of hope is especially welcome. At a time when Canadians are struggling with rising costs and visiting food banks at historic rates, Sikhs will find renewed strength in the power of Seva. By banding together to organize Langars and give back to their communities, Sikhs demonstrate the incredible selflessness that has brought light to Canada for generations.
“As the captivating colours of Hola Mohalla pour out of Gurdwaras across the country over the next few days, I hope that Sikhs and all Canadians are encouraged by the promise that brighter days are ahead. Happy Hola Mohalla!”
