PIERRE Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party and the Official Opposition, on Monday said in a statement on Eid al-Adha:
“Today marks the celebration of Eid al-Adha for Muslims in Canada and across the world. At the culmination of the Hajj, Muslims come together with their loved ones to pray, share gifts and reflect on the necessity of sacrifice and compassion.
“Some Canadians may have travelled in pilgrimage to Mecca, where they rejoice in spiritual renewal and the strength of God’s goodwill.
“For those who remained in Canada this year, this holiday honours the story of the prophet Ibrahim and his faith. Ibrahim was willing to sacrifice everything in his devotion to God and all Canadians can learn from the Islamic values of generosity and compassion.
“Canada is fortunate to have such a significant and vibrant Muslim community, and I encourage all Canadians – regardless of faith – to take the time to learn more about this celebration.
“On behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada, I would like to wish you all a joyous and reflective Eid al-Adha.”
