THE Conservative Party of Surrey has announced its first six Surrey City Council candidates.

The six announced candidates shared deeply personal stories of immigration, family, business, and community service while outlining a unified vision to address rising taxes, deteriorating public safety, an escalating extortion crisis, and council decisions that too often sidelined everyday residents.

Kerry-Lynne Findlay, former federal cabinet minister, told the gathering: “Friends, let me tell you – when I served in Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government, we delivered big: violent crime slashed by over 30%, taxes cut for middle-class families, and gas, groceries, rent, and mortgages were more affordable than they are today. The Canadian Dream was alive and thriving because we focused on safer streets, lower taxes, and real respect for hardworking families.”

Findlay added: “Now, right here in Surrey, we’re bringing that same proven and reliable Conservative leadership to City Hall – with safer streets, lower taxes, and putting families first. The six candidates announced here tonight can deliver those same results here in Surrey at the municipal level. We’ll restore safety, cut taxes, and put Surrey’s families first.”

The Conservative Party of Surrey unveiled its initial slate of six candidates for the 2026 municipal election:

  • Lita Cabal  –  Former Conservative Party of Canada candidate, longtime Surrey resident, proud mother of three, and community volunteer at City Dream Centre. “Surrey’s best days are ahead – safe, affordable, and a great place to start and raise a family. We’ll make it happen, together, as conservatives.”
  • Ricky Bajwa  –  Longtime Surrey resident, business manager, international badminton athlete turned certified coach, and veteran Conservative campaign organizer.
  • James Yu  –  Community leader, founder of the Alliance of Chinese Conservatives of Canada, recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee and King Charles III Coronation Medals, and key organizer against the proposed high-risk drug housing project in South Surrey.
  • Rasinder Kaur  –  Entrepreneur, founder of the Norius Group of Companies and Feminine Fellowship Outreach Society, mother, and immigrant success story.
  • Holly Verchere  –  Retired Air Canada manager with 41 years in aviation safety and operations, former lifeguard and swim instructor, and recent election officer volunteer.
  • Cheney Cloke  –  Small-business owner, former Vice-Chair of the Surrey Police Board, former executive with Fraser Health, and longtime community advocate with children in local schools and sports.

Each candidate emphasized the party’s three core commitments: fully supporting police to restore safety, cutting waste to lower taxes, and ensuring every council decision benefits the families raising the next generation in Surrey.
