Coquitlam RCMP seek suspect in hit-and-run

COQUITLAM RCMP are seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a hit-and-run that sent two pedestrians to hospital with serious injuries.

Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers received a report that two pedestrians had been struck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on Smith Avenue near Dogwood Street in Coquitlam at 11 p.m. on Saturday, January 21. The suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

The two pedestrians were transported to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries. Coquitlam RCMP Victim Services has been engaged.

The suspect vehicle can be described as a newer model white Honda sedan or possibly an SUV. The vehicle would have minor damage to the front and is missing the Honda emblem from the hood.

“Police are asking anyone who may have observed the collision or seen a newer model white Honda sedan or SUV with front end damage on January 21 at 11 p.m. or shortly after to contact the Coquitlam RCMP,” said Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “Police are seeking people with video footage including surveillance, dash cam or cell-phone video to contact the Coquitlam RCMP and quote file number 2023-1990.”
