Coquitlam RCMP seek to identify suspect in sexual assault series

COQUITLAM RCMP are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect in a series of sexual assaults which occurred in Coquitlam.

Coquitlam RCMP are investigating seven separate reports that an unknown male inappropriately touched the buttocks of women as they were walking.

Five of these incidents occurred between Wednesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 5 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Burquitlam area of Coquitlam.

Two further incidents occurred on Friday, December 6 in Glen Park located at 1158 Pipeline Road in Coquitlam.

In all incidents, the male fled on foot after the assault.

“Public safety is our top priority and our officers are working diligently to identify and locate this individual,” said Media Relations Officer, Sgt. Alexa Hodgins. “We are asking anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or who may have experienced a similar incident to contact our investigators.”

The suspect can be described as:

* Light skinned male
* 20 to 30 years old
* 5’7 to 6’ tall
* Slim to medium build

The suspect was described as wearing a plaid jacket and a hoodie sweater underneath with the hood up.

“We are asking anyone who may know this individual or may have information about these incidents to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550,” said Hodgins.

The Coquitlam RCMP Investigational Support Team (IST) has assumed conduct of the investigation. Coquitlam RCMP Victim Services is engaged.
