DARWIN Lescano, 38, of Richmond, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother Redelma Belisario, 62.

On May 19 at 3:30 p.m., Richmond RCMP were called to a home in the 11000-block of Woodhead Road after family members found Belisario dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team released a public alert on May 20 in an attempt to locate Lescano, who was determined to be a suspect in Belisario’s death.

IHIT Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said on Tuesday: “Investigators acted quickly when information related to Mr. Lescano’s whereabouts came to light; they notified Vancouver Police who were able to locate him and make the arrest.”

She added: “Public safety was paramount in the decision to release information about Mr. Lescano.  The public can rest assured that as a result of information sharing between police agencies he was arrested quickly and without incident once his whereabouts became known.”
