ON Wednesday, May 28 just before 7 a.m., University RCMP received a report that an unresponsive person was located on Wreck Beach. Despite lifesaving efforts, the person was declared deceased.

The investigation is in the early stages and police are working with BC Coroner’s Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the person’s death.

Identification of the deceased has been confirmed and the next of kin has been notified, police said.
