Yang “Christopher” Liang, 35, charged in University Endowment Lands murder

ON March 13 at 11:42 p.m., in response to a 911 call, the University RCMP attended a residence in the 5400-block of Shortcut Road in the University Endowment Lands. Upon arrival in the residence, police located a deceased female.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation and worked closely in partnership with the University RCMP, Richmond RCMP, the “E” Division Major Crime Section, the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section, the Integrated Emergency Response Team, the Vancouver Police Department and the BC Coroners Service.

On March 21, the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) laid a charge of second-degree murder against 35-year-old Yang “Christopher” Liang in relation to this investigation.

“As the parties were known to one another, investigators believe this may have been a tragic incident of intimate partner violence,” said IHIT Cpl. Esther Tupper.  “IHIT is appreciative of the unwavering support from our partners, specifically the Integrated Emergency Response Team and the Vancouver Police Department which allowed IHIT to locate and arrest the accused.”

IHIT is asking anyone with information to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
