Dedaar Jhooty pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2021 Whistler stabbing

DEDAAR Jhooty appeared in North Vancouver Provincial Court on Tuesday, July 16 and pled guilty to manslaughter in a 2021 stabbing in Whistler Village. The sentencing hearing will be scheduled in the near future.

On August 14, 2021, Sea to Sky RCMP were called to investigate an altercation that happened near Whistler Village. The victim was waiting for a taxicab with a friend. A verbal altercation ensued between the victim, the friend, and another group of males. The altercation escalated and the victim was stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation. 

IHIT identified the victim as 26-year-old Henry Garcia Molina.

Following an investigation, Jhooty was identified and on June 23, 2022, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said on Thursday that it is appreciative of the assistance provided by the Whistler RCMP and the Sea to Sky General Investigation Section (GIS). Through strong partnerships with the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and National Forensic Laboratory Service (NFLS), IHIT was able to collect key evidence.

IHIT said that additional information will be made available after sentencing.
