DELTA Police says in a post on X that electric kick scooters (EKS) are not permitted on public roads, bike lanes, or sidewalks in Delta, as the city is not participating in the provincial Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Project.

Delta Police are prioritizing education and enforcement around illegal micromobility use and issuing tickets where necessary. Parents and guardians allowing youth under 16 years of age to operate an EKS may also be subject to fines.

“Riding an EKS in a community not participating in the program can result in a $109 ticket,” say Delta Police.

“Also note that allowing a person under 16 years old to operate an EKS is illegal and can result in a $109 ticket for the person’s parent or guardian,” they add.

“We are encouraging everyone to be aware and actively work together to keep our roads safe,” say Delta Police.
