ON Monday, an upstanding citizen called police to report that he had found a notable amount of Canadian currency scattered on the sidewalk on Columbia Street in downtown New Westminster.

Officers would like to return the funds to the rightful owner.

“We’ve had success in the past in locating the owners of money found by good Samaritans,” said Sgt. Sanjay Kumar. “We’re hoping to find whose money this is. If you were in the downtown area yesterday, and in possession of some cash, please check to ensure you haven’t lost it.”
