Douglas Wanke, 57, identified as Vancouver homicide victim

VANCOUVER Police on Wednesday announced that they have identified the victim in the city’s 15th homicide as 57-year-old Vancouver resident Douglas Wanke. His remains were found in a large recycling bin in the water off Kits Point on October 18.

The Canadian Coast Guard recovered the bin after multiple calls from people on the water on October 18 at around 11 a.m. Vancouver Police and the BC Coroner’s Service attended and determined that the remains in the bin were human.

The VPD’s Major Crime Section is continuing to investigate Wanke’s murder.
