RIDGE Meadows RCMP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that occurred on Wednesday morning in Maple Ridge.
On August 27 at approximately 9:40 a.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle incident in the 25800-block of Lougheed Highway.
The motor vehicle incident involved a single vehicle and a train, which resulted in a fatality.
Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue and BC Emergency Health Services were already on scene when police arrived.
The Investigation Support Team (IST) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) were called out to assist with the investigation.
Lougheed Highway was initially shut down for a short period of time but has now re-opened for traffic.
This is currently an active and ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time, police said.
