RIDGE Meadows RCMP are investigating a motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian that occurred late on Saturday night in Maple Ridge.
On August 30, at approximately 11:02 p.m., a Ridge Meadows RCMP officer on patrol was flagged down in the 20400-block of Lougheed Highway. The initial investigation revealed a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Attending police officers administered first-aid to the man, and Maple Ridge Fire Rescue and Emergency Health Services attended the scene. The man was transported to hospital but later died.
The Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) were called out to assist with the investigation.
Initially, Lougheed Highway was closed in both directions between 203 Street and 207 Street but has since re-opened.
