ON August 1, 2025, at approximately midnight, New Westminster Police Department officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about a fight in the 800-block of Ewen Avenue in the Queensborough neighbourhood. Officers located a man who appeared to have stab wounds. Officers provided emergency first aid, including efforts to control bleeding, and BC Emergency Health Services transported the victim to hospital.
The Major Crime Unit took conduct of the investigation and over the next several months worked to collect evidence and obtain approval for numerous search warrants. The Major Crime Unit has arrested four individuals and in February, charges were approved for each person relating to robbery, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault.
The names of three of these individuals are not published in accordance with the Government of Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act. An 18-year-old, Arman Rajani, has been charged. Investigators are still working to determine what relationship, if any, existed between the suspects and the victim.
“This was a source of concern for many Queensborough residents,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “There was a relentless effort to follow the evidence and identify these suspects. Justice will be served.”
The New Westminster Police Department thanked the Street Crime Unit, Vancouver Police Department, Surrey Police Service, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team for their assistance in this investigation.
