VIRTUAL TELETHON EVENT

“One Final Call”  via Zoom

The currently ongoing Facebook Fundraiser for the Canadian Red Cross in support of a dedicated appeal for the typhoon survivors in the Philippines has so far reached $6,615.00 ($6,115 online + $500 in cheque) and the organizers will be conducting a Virtual Telethon via Zoom this Sunday, December 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. in an aim to at least double the amount that will be remitted to Canadian Red Cross before Christmas.

Surrey City Councillor Linda Annis, MP Ken Hardie (Fleetwood-Port Kells), MP Randeep Sarai (Surrey Ctre) and Filipino Community’s Mable Elmore (MLA, Vancouver-Kensington) will be some of the prominent personalities joining the telethon together with leaders and active volunteers of the Filipino Canadian community in Metro Vancouver, particularly from the head organizers in Surrey, Vancouver, and North Vancouver. Popular Tina Turner tribute artist and TV show host Luisa Marshall and Miss Canada 2020 (also Miss B.C. 2019) Bremiella De Guzman will also be part of the volunteer callers for this telethon.

The co-organizers of this fundraiser are: Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society (SPIDS), the long-time non-profit organization of Filipinos in Surrey, a Filipino community group in North Vancouver, and the advocacy group Global Pinoy Diaspora Canada (GPDC), based in Vancouver.
