Guilty plea entered in 2022 Coquitlam homicide

A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in relation to the homicide of Terry Miller.

On February 10, 2022, the Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of 228 Schoolhouse Street in Coquitlam. First responders found a 66-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. The victim, later identified as Terry Miller, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On February 22, 2022, Miller succumbed to his injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation and continued to work in close partnership with the Coquitlam RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service to further the investigation.

On January 20, 2023, IHIT investigators arrested Jeffrey Stevens in relation to the homicide of Miller. Stevens was subsequently charged with one count of second-degree murder.

On December 10, 2025, Stevens, now 24 years old, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for his involvement in the death of Miller. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 12, 2026.

“The entering of a guilty plea is a significant step in the court process,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “As we await sentencing, our thoughts are with Mr. Miller’s family and those who were impacted by this tragic incident.”
