Help identify man who assaulted pregnant woman in Whalley

SURREY RCMP are looking for the public’s help to identify a man who assaulted a pregnant woman in Whalley.

The woman was assaulted after a visit to a bank on 102 Avenue and King George Boulevard shortly after 11:30 a.m. on March 23. At that time, an unknown man approached her from behind and pushed her to the ground. It appears that this was an unprovoked assault. The victim was taken to an area hospital for care and, fortunately, received only minor physical injuries.

Police are releasing a surveillance photo of the suspect in hopes of identifying the man.

He is described as a white man, slender build, wearing a sky blue jacket, dark pants, and a grey hat.

“This unprovoked assault is very concerning,” said Cpl. Joanie Sidhu, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. “We are appealing to the public to help us identify the man responsible so we can advance our investigation.”

Police told The VOICE they are keeping an open mind about the suspect’s motivation and want to talk to him to find out more about this unacceptable behaviour.
