“Criminal charges are being considered”

ON March 30, at approximately 11 p.m., New Westminster Police patrol members responded to a collision at the intersection of 6th Avenue and McBride Boulevard. Officers arrived on scene alongside New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service. Upon arrival, officers saw two vehicles had sustained significant damage. One vehicle had been traveling at such a high rate of speed that it flipped into some nearby hedges and landed on its roof.

Some occupants of the flipped vehicle attended local hospital on their own accord. The lone occupant of the second vehicle did not appear to have significant injuries.

“With the amount of damage these vehicles sustained it’s a miracle no one was seriously hurt,” said Sgt. Jacquelyn Mula, “Based off the circumstances surrounding this collision, criminal charges are being considered.”

The New Westminster Police Department would like anyone with dash cam footage to come forward by calling 604-525-5411. The New Westminster Police Department would like to remind everyone about the consequences of choosing high-risk driving behaviors. Making poor choices behind the wheel can result in life changing injuries or death for vulnerable road users, your passengers, or yourself. Officers encourage everyone to drive with common sense and respect for other road users.
