Homemade explosive injures Coquitlam man

COQUITLAM RCMP announced on Wednesday that theirĀ investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the detonation of a homemade explosive in the 1400-block of Ross Avenue, Coquitlam.

The explosion happened at about 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday and resulted in serious, but not life-threatening, injuries to a man who lived at the home. The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) was called in and its members located and disarmed a second item of concern.

EDU will continue working with Coquitlam RCMP throughout Wednesday to ensure that the area is safe. If you saw or heard anything that may help police determine exactly what happened, call the non-emergency line of Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and ask for the Investigative Support Team (file 2018-25330).
