IHIT deployed to Surrey after man succumbs to injuries

SURREY RCMP on Tuesday announced an investigation into the death of an injured man located in a vehicle and requested anyone with information to contact police.

On September 20 at approximately 9:25 a.m., Surrey RCMP received a reported of a person who had passed out in a running vehicle in the 8800-block of 127 Street. First responders located an injured person who was unresponsive. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man did not survive.

Police said criminality is believed to be a factor and, therefore, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP. Investigators are actively working to identify the deceased and the circumstances that lead to his death.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. Traffic in the area is being rerouted. Officers are interviewing witnesses and canvasing the area for further information and evidence.
