THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Tuesday identified the victim of a homicide in Langley from September 2023 as Michael Kashani.

On September 22, 2023, the Langley City Fire Rescue Service attended Nicomekl Park located at 5281 208th Street for a report of a bush fire. First responders and Langley RCMP officers located human remains and the death was deemed suspicious. IHIT was deployed at the onset and took conduct of the investigation.

Since then, IHIT said it has pursued a number of investigative avenues to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and the investigation has been ongoing. In order to further the investigation, it is now identifying the victim.

“Mr. Kashani was 36 years old at the time and his death has left a void in his family and community,” said IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong. “We believe someone out there may have information about Mr. Kashani’s death and we are interested in speaking with them.”
