IHIT investigating homicide in Newton (update)

ON Tuesday, July 23 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of a fight in the 6600-block of King George Boulevard. Officers located a male suffering from stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts from both frontline police officers and B.C. Ambulance Service, the male was declared deceased at scene.

Police said that early indications are that the two individuals had an altercation resulting in the victim being stabbed. It is unknown if the two parties involved were known to each other prior to the incident, or what the motivation for the incident was. The suspect is described as a white male, 6’ tall, clean shaven with short sandy blonde hair.

Although the investigation is in its infancy, investigators believe this was an isolated incident between two individuals.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the fatal stabbing.

Investigators with the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit are working closely with IHIT.

King George Boulevard has been re-opened to traffic.
