THE Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) said on Tuesday it is transitioning the investigation into a death at Abbotsford’s Menno Home to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

On July 6, Abbotsford Police were alerted by the Abbotsford Regional Hospital regarding two patients who had been transferred from Menno Home. Both individuals were experiencing medical emergencies that raised concerns due to their suspicious nature.

On July 10, one of the patients did not survive, police said.

Menno Home immediately implemented additional safeguards to protect the well-being of its residents.

Abbotsford Police’s MCU said it said it has been actively investigating this incident in collaboration with its law enforcement partners and medical professionals.
